When Turkish cuisine is mentioned in the U.S., kebab, pide, lahmacun, and mantı usually come to mind. However, Blue Fig Garden in New Jersey offers options that go beyond that perception with its extensive menu.

ABDPost New York correspondent Özlem Özgüt Yörekli visited Blue Fig Garden’s Wayne location this time to explore its seafood offerings, after previously highlighting the restaurant’s diverse Turkish flavors.

This time, the table featured fish instead of kebab.

Located at the entrance of Willowbrook Mall, Blue Fig Garden’s menu offers a wide array of Turkish and Mediterranean dishes, ranging from Adana kebab and lamb shish to mantı, lahmacun, and various pide varieties.

However, one of the restaurant’s ambitious areas is its seafood.

On the grill, in addition to sea bass and salmon, options such as shrimp and calamari are also on the menu. Thus, Blue Fig Garden brings together those who prefer classic Turkish dishes and those who want to enjoy seafood at the same table.

Özlem Özgüt Yörekli's first choice was sea bass grilled on the barbecue. The fish, sweetened with thyme, was served with generous salad, while Yörekli opted for garlic mashed potatoes on the side.

Paying particular attention to the fish's cooking consistency, Yörekli described her experience as 'the fish was cooked like Turkish delight.' She also noted that the garlic mashed potatoes successfully complemented the sea bass.

Shrimp sauté was also on the table.

The second stop of the seafood experience was shrimp sauté. The shrimp, prepared with butter, were served with crispy French fries.

Yörekli, who praised the shrimp's tenderness and cooking consistency, said the butter's flavor stood out even more. Seafood options ranging from grilled sea bass and snapper to shrimp and calamari especially attract those seeking a different alternative at dinner.

Yörekli, who evaluated Blue Fig Garden's performance in seafood, expressed his approval by saying, "Blue Fig Garden is doing this job, my brother."

At the end of the visit, he summed up his experience with the words, "Now I know the address when I feel like fish."

A Dinner Destination That Can Be Chosen by the Whole Family

Blue Fig Garden's extensive menu caters to diverse palates, especially during family dinners. On one side, popular Turkish dishes such as kebab, pide, and mantı are offered, while on the other side, grilled fish and seafood options are available.

The BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) system is also in place. While the restaurant does not serve alcoholic beverages on its premises, guests who wish can bring their own drinks.

The Wayne branch, noted for its spacious and airy layout, offers areas that can also be chosen for family meals, large gatherings, and special events.

Blue Fig Garden Continues to Grow

The story of Blue Fig Garden began in 2020 with its Cherry Hill branch in New Jersey. Subsequently, the Wayne branch opened. The brand is now continuing preparations for its third branch, which will be opened in Connecticut.

A restaurant that combines traditional Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine with modern presentation; it offers a diverse menu featuring kebabs, mantı, moussaka, lahmacun and pide, as well as seafood, pastas and mezze.
