In the US, 'No Kings' protests: Focus on ballot and democracy
The 'No Kings' protests held nationwide in the US were also staged in Connecticut before the November 3 midterm elections. The demonstrations highlighted voting rights, immigration policies, cost of living, and civil rights.

Hundreds of people attended the protests held on Saturday, October 17, in the Connecticut cities of Bridgeport, New Haven, and Hartford.
While protesting what they saw as threats to democracy, the demonstrators called on voters to go to the polls and hold elected officials accountable.
Immigration policies and the cost of living were on the agenda.
At the Bridgeport demonstration, ICE's immigration practices, school funding, and discrimination were criticized.
Some participants argued that immigration operations were affecting families and student attendance rates in schools. In a gathering of about 200 people in New Haven, a campaign for early voting was carried out.
At the Hartford event, information was provided on documenting the activities of federal immigration agents and on alternative voting systems.
Vote call ahead of the by-elections
Protests were staged during the period when early voting in Connecticut will run from October 19 to November 1. The November 3 by-elections will shape the balance of power in Congress.
Organizers stressed that participation in the protests should not be limited to election day alone, and that citizens should also take part in local governance processes.
