Flood disaster in the U.S.! One person died in the Grand Canyon, 15 missing.

The Grand Canyon in the U.S. state of Arizona was put on alert after a sudden flash flood triggered by heavy rains. Reports indicated that powerful floodwaters in the vicinity of Crystal Rapids River swept up large boulders, broke metal structures and destroyed some bridges over the Colorado River.

A large‑scale search and rescue operation was launched in the area following the disaster.

A 46‑year‑old man lost his life in the area.

Park officials said they had recovered the lifeless body of a 46‑year‑old man linked to the flash flood.

While crews continued their work in the area, search efforts were intensified to locate 15 people who were in the canyon during the flash flood and had not been heard from.

Authorities also called on citizens who were aware of people hiking or camping in the area to get in touch; anyone with information about missing persons was asked to contact the search and rescue teams.

Investigating Where the Missing Are

Park spokesperson Joelle Baird offered assessments on where the missing might be

Baird said the missing were believed to be hikers in the canyon's inner sections or visitors heading to Phantom Ranch for a day hike

Search teams are continuing their efforts to reach the missing in areas affected by the flood

Flood Causes Major Destruction

The sudden flood not only caused loss of life and property but also inflicted serious damage in the area

It was reported that the large rocks carried by flood waters damaged surrounding structures, metal structures broke apart, and bridges over the Colorado River were destroyed.

Officials are also continuing their investigations to assess damage in the region, alongside ongoing search and rescue efforts.
