According to local authorities, Gabriele using the alias Amanda Maria Sousa Oliveira first turned to a church.
The woman, who said she had suffered violence in the state of Paraná from her family, received financial support from church members and was helped to find a place to stay.
Later adopted by a family, the woman lived with them for about 14 months. Authorities noted that the family gradually grew emotionally attached to her and treated her like their own children.
She made various claims to conceal her identity
According to the investigation file, the woman claimed she was autistic and had been forcibly given hormone medications to appear older.
Authorities stated that the suspect used pacifiers and bottles to give off a childlike appearance, sometimes spoke in a child’s voice, and exhibited behavior resembling panic attacks at night.
It was recorded that the woman claimed to have lost her identification documents and refused to attend school, citing that she could track down her father, who she said had been searching for her, as her reason.
It came to light following a tip-off
The incident came to light after a person close to the family, suspecting something was amiss, reported it to the police.
On June 2, the woman was detained during an operation and admitted her real age to authorities. It was later reported that the suspect was arrested and sent to prison.
Investigations revealed that the woman had been involved in similar fraud cases across five different states, including São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Minas Gerais.
