Ibrahim Kurt, 56, who has lived in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania for many years and is known in the Turkish community by the nickname “Çavuş,” has died. It was reported that his body will be sent to Turkey for burial.
He had been receiving treatment for a long time.
It was reported that Ibrahim Kurt, who lives in the Levittown area of Pennsylvania, has been receiving treatment for liver and lung conditions. Following a recent deterioration in his health and the emergence of serious kidney problems, he was admitted to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania – Penn Medicine.
Despite doctors' interventions, Ibrahim Kurt, 56, lost his life.
Funeral prayer to be held in New Jersey.
According to the funeral announcement issued by Hamidiye Mosque, the funeral prayer for Ibrahim Kurt will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Hamidiye Mosque in Willingboro, New Jersey.
It was indicated that after the funeral prayer, Kurt's body would be sent to Turkey.
He will be bid farewell in Bursa on his final journey.
It was learned that Ibrahim Kurt, whose name is recorded in the population of Ericek village in Espiye district of Giresun, has had a family living in Bursa for many years. Following the family's decision, after the necessary funeral procedures are completed, Kurt's body will be sent to Turkey and buried in Bursa.
After the official procedures in the United States are completed, the body is expected to be transported to Turkey.
Ibrahim Kurt's death caused sorrow among the Turkish community in the United States and his relatives, who have known him for many years.
