He thought he had caught a microbe from his children! When he learned the truth, his life was turned upside down.
Nick Angell blamed his feeling of being unwell on the microbes and intensity he had caught from his children. However, a few weeks before being sent home from a business meeting, it turned out that the symptoms he had experienced were actually due to a much more serious condition.

Nick Angell, who works in the IT sector in the UK, blamed his fatigue on a heavy workload and a microbe he caught from his children. However, during a business trip from Swindon to Nottingham, his sudden deterioration led to a diagnosis that would completely change his life.
Angell called for emergency help when he felt he was about to faint during a business meeting. The three‑child father, taken to the hospital, learned that he had contracted a serious disease that would cause his kidneys to fail.
Fatigue Box, Stage 5 Kidney Failure Diagnosed
Tests revealed that Angell was diagnosed with IgA nephropathy. Because of the autoimmune disease that can cause serious damage to the kidneys, Angell's condition had reached a critical level.
Learning that only 4% of his kidneys were functioning, Angell described the experience as a great shock.
The father of three children described the shock he felt after the diagnosis, saying he suddenly felt as if he had been dropped into a war zone.
The first thing he did was plan his funeral
Angell, after learning the seriousness of the illness, began preparations for the funeral, taking the possibility of death into account
Explaining to his wife Kate where the important documents were, Angell said that at the time his actions seemed reasonable, but in hindsight he could not understand why he had drawn his wife into such a process

The treatment path went through a kidney transplant
Doctors said the most important treatment option for Angell's condition is a kidney transplant. Angell, who endured a difficult period after her illness, learned about 14 months after her first diagnosis that she had received a suitable kidney.
After the surgery, Angell, who is experiencing a significant health improvement, the feeling that remained after the operation.I feel as if I were 18 again. He explained with words.
But this relief did not last long.
The Body Rejected the Transplanted Kidney
About two and a half years after the first transplant, Angell began to feel unwell again. Tests revealed that his body had rejected the transplanted kidney.
Angell’s kidney function fell back to as low as 8 percent, and this time he had to undergo dialysis for roughly 15 hours a week.
Despite all the challenges he faced, Angell tried to keep up with daily life as much as possible, and he said he only took a few days off from work during his tenure as vice president at a pharmaceutical company because of his illness.
I Need to Get Back to Work
Angell said he is trying not to let his illness take over his entire life, and that getting back to work is important.
Angell, who said that the disease could confine a person to bed and the bedroom, explained that he tries to continue his daily life and work as much as possible.
Angell, who knows that he has gained time through additional transplants during the process, nevertheless said that he prefers not to focus on the looming thought of death.
Angell, who said that his three children are also aware of what has happened, said that he tries to give as little permission as possible for his family to worry. Despite the severe health problems he has, Angell continues his life, and while fighting his illness he tries to maintain his bond with his family and work.
