Publix had recalled the GreenWise-branded four varieties of organic frozen blueberries and mixed fruit products on July 29.

It was reported that the products were shipped to stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

The FDA applies the “Class I” level in situations where the use or consumption of the product could pose serious health problems or lead to death.

12 E. coli cases reported.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 12 E. coli cases linked to the outbreak were reported in two states. No deaths related to the outbreak have been announced so far.

Among the recalled products are GreenWise Organic Whole Blueberries and GreenWise Organic Whole Mixed Berries in 10- and 48-ounce packages. Consumers were urged not to consume products with a best‑by date before February 9, 2028, and to return them to stores.

E. coli infection can cause severe abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting. In severe cases, hemolytic uremic syndrome, which can lead to kidney failure, may develop.
