Ted's Confession After Years from How I Met Your Mother
A confession from Ted Mosby of 'How I Met Your Mother' surprised Josh Radnor after years. The famous actor, while saying that the cast of the legendary series are no longer even 'a little' close, also described the behind-the-scenes tension he experienced on set with Neil Patrick Harris.

In the series 'How I Met Your Mother', Josh Radnor, who became etched in memory alongside the character Ted Mosby, surprised the show's fans with a statement years later. Radnor said that the cast he had worked with on camera for nine seasons is no longer close. The famous actor also spoke openly for the first time about the tension he experienced with Neil Patrick Harris during the set.
Not Close at All
The series 'How I Met Your Mother', which aired from 2005 to 2014 and reached a wide global fan base, was thought to have its actors close friends in real life. However, 52‑year‑old Josh Radnor, who portrayed Ted Mosby in the show, said in the 'Half the Picture' podcast that this perception does not fully reflect reality.

Radnor gave a very clear answer to the question of whether the cast is still close today, saying 'Not even a little.' He especially emphasized that there was no major fight or dramatic fallout behind it.
Radnor explained that the actors, who had worked together almost every day for years, turned toward their own lives after the show ended.
'Like university. You go through a very intense period together and can't even imagine a life where you don't see each other every day. Then everyone disperses and starts living their own lives.'
Chatting with Jason Segel from Time to Time
Radnor detailed how he relates to his former co‑stars today
Radnor said he occasionally messages Jason Segel, who portrays Marshall Eriksen, yet he hasn't seen Segel face‑to‑face for a long time

The actor, known for playing Robin Scherbatsky, said he met with Cobie Smulders twice via Zoom for a rewatch podcast, but revealed he hasn't seen Alyson Hannigan, who portrays Lily Aldrin, since her wedding in January 2024
Radnor emphasized that his affection for his former co‑stars remains unchanged
Tension Experienced with Neil Patrick Harris on Set
One of the most striking parts of the statements was the relationship between Radnor and the show's Barney Stinson, played by Neil Patrick Harris.
Radnor said that in March he hosted Harris on the podcast program where they rewatched "How I Met Your Mother" and that the pair openly discussed some tensions that arose on the set.

In a previous statement, Harris admitted that during filming he sometimes felt that Radnor was uncomfortable with him. According to Harris, one reason was that Radnor wanted the scenes to be more serious and powerful, while Barney's physical-comedy-based behavior altered the mood of the scene.
Radnor said that part of the tension between them could stem from "confusing the actor with the character."
I was feeling insecure.
The famous actor also made a striking admission about the personal emotions he experienced in the early years of the show.
Radnor said that when filming began, the fact that some cast members—especially Neil Patrick Harris—were more famous than him put pressure on him, and that he sometimes felt insecure.
Radnor, who said, 'I think I was trying to juggle many different things and emotions at once. Sometimes they came out in the wrong ways,' added that he now views his on‑set behavior from a different perspective after years.
"More Like Family Than Friendship"
According to Radnor, one of fans' biggest expectations is that the friendship on the show continues in real life.

The star said that people still imagine him, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jason Segel going to bars together in New York, but he noted that his real‑life relationships are quite different.
Radnor likened the bond among the cast to a family relationship rather than friendship, saying, 'You can't choose your family. We didn't choose each other; we were chosen for the same show. In such an environment, when you spend years together, family dynamics emerge.'
There is love, but it is not an active love.
Radnor, who now clearly stated that the cast of 'How I Met Your Mother' are no longer close friends in their everyday lives, opposed the idea that there were negative feelings among them.
According to the actor, there is still a 'deep, strong, and probably lasting' love among the crew. However, as Radnor put it, this is no longer an 'active love'.

For millions of fans who followed Ted, Barney, Marshall, Robin, and Lily's friendships in New York over nine seasons, Radnor's words opened a new window into the behind‑the‑camera relationships of one of the screen's most unforgettable friend groups years later.
