A death investigation was launched after human remains were found in Harvey, a city in the state of Illinois, United States, on Tuesday morning. Harvey Police announced that teams began work on the remains near block 16,300 of Halsted Street at about 09.16.
No Suspicion of Murder
In the initial assessment by police, no signs of murder or any other crime were found at the scene. Officials said the investigation is continuing to determine how the death occurred and how the remains arrived in the area.

Identity Still Unidentified
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office was informed about the found human remains. However, as of Tuesday night, the identity of the remains had not yet been determined. It was reported that identity‑determination work is continuing as part of the forensic examination.
State Police Also Involved
The investigation conducted by the Harvey Police was also joined by the Illinois State Police. Officials said that the incident is being examined in all its aspects and that the findings will determine the course of the death investigation.
Officials said that after the remains were found, there is no ongoing threat to residents of the area. Police stated that, based on current information, there is no situation that threatens public safety.
