Gunfire erupted during an event held in Lexington, Kentucky, USA. In the attack that occurred at Charles Young Park, one person was killed, and four others were injured, including two children aged 4 and 14. Police are continuing the investigation into the incident.
Gunfire Rises in Park
The armed attack occurred on the evening of Saturday, August 15, at Charles Young Park in downtown Lexington. Police units were dispatched to the area around 18:48 after receiving a report of an armed attack from block 200 of Midland Avenue.
During the incident, a community event called “East End Day” attended by local residents was being held in the park. After gunfire was heard, extensive security measures were taken in the area.

Two Children Also Injured
Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers said that a total of five people were shot in the attack. It was reported that one of the injured was taken to a hospital and later died.
It was reported that the other four injured in the attack included a 4‑year‑old child, a 14‑year‑old child, and two adults. It was announced that the four injured taken to hospital were not in life‑threatening condition.
Emergency Mobilization Issued for Police.
After the attack, an emergency personnel mobilization was launched for the police force in Lexington. According to the plan adopted by city officials, it was reported that all police officers, including those on duty in the third shift, were called to duty.
While some roads around the incident site were closed to traffic, numerous police teams conducted inspections in the area.

Suspect Still Unidentified.
The motive for the attack and the identity of the person or persons who carried it out have not yet been disclosed. Police Chief Weathers said that there was no ongoing threat to the public following the incident.
Officials have not yet released the identity of the person who lost their life. While no arrests or detentions related to the incident were announced, the police requested assistance from witnesses and people with information to shed light on the attack.
