Weather Turns Backwards in New York: Summer Returns

In the United States, after powerful storms that affected New York and its surroundings, the weather is changing rapidly. Following the storm that brought heavy rain, strong winds, and coastal flooding, temperatures in the city are expected to rise again. As the storm moves away from the region, its effects are gradually diminishing.

Friday Weather Forecast Expected

Current forecasts for New York City show temperatures will rise gradually over the week. On Friday, the temperature is expected to reach 83 °F, or about 28 °C. This figure signals a notable temperature increase for New York at the start of autumn.

Nor'easter Leaves Its Trace

The nor'easter that affected the region, especially New York, New Jersey, and Long Island, caused strong winds, heavy rainfall, and coastal flooding. Over a 72‑hour period, precipitation totals were 8.05 inches in Neptune, New Jersey; 6.03 inches in Old Bridge; 5.53 inches in Eastport, New York; and 5.25 inches in East Setauket. At Central Park, rainfall measured 2.86 inches.

Wind Speed Reached 81 mph

Another striking effect of the storm was strong winds. In Montauk, New York, the wind reached a maximum speed of 81 miles, roughly 130 kilometers. In Surf City, New Jersey, speeds of 74 miles were recorded, 71 miles in Stony Brook, and 69 miles in Harvey Cedars.

Temperatures Are Rising Rapidly

In New York City, temperatures are forecast to rise to 73 Fahrenheit on Tuesday, 75 Fahrenheit on Wednesday, and 80 Fahrenheit on Thursday. On Friday, temperatures are expected to reach 83 Fahrenheit. With the weekend, temperatures are projected to fall again.

Summer Surprise at the Start of Autumn

This rapid temperature shift in New York during the last days of September becomes more pronounced after the harsh weekend weather. Following the storm, residents are expected to enjoy warmer and relatively calm air, with temperatures projected to drop to around 73 Fahrenheit on Saturday.
