'Parazit' was called, but the reality turned out to be entirely different: the view Klozette saw changed his life.

Sarah Beran, who lives in the United States, began experiencing health problems at age 34. Beran, who was suffering from fatigue and digestive issues, initially thought her complaints were due to irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or the demands of a hectic daily life.

Because she was young and led a healthy lifestyle, it was not considered that her symptoms could signal a serious disease. However, bleeding that emerged over time turned out to be a harbinger of a diagnosis that would completely change Beran’s life.

Symptoms Were Not Treated Seriously Because of Her Youth

When her complaints persisted and she sought a doctor, Beran explained that, because she was young, it was not thought that she was facing a serious health problem.

Beran, who stated she was 34, led an active life, and ate healthily, said that her doctor therefore did not initially link her condition to a serious illness.

Later, the young woman who consulted a gastroenterology specialist encountered a similar approach there.

‘It Could Just Be a Parasite’ Was Said

The gastroenterology specialist assessed that Beran's complaints could be due to a simple parasitic infection. Consequently, the young woman began taking probiotics and continued with her daily life.

However, within a short period, her symptoms worsened.

The Toilet Was Filled with Blood

Initially, a faint line of blood appeared in Beran's stool, but over time the bleeding increased markedly. After a while, she noticed that the toilet was filled with blood each time she went.

Realizing that what she was experiencing was not an ordinary digestive issue, Beran photographed her stool to document the findings and took it to her doctor.

Beran said that after these images, it became clear that the situation could not be explained by a parasitic infection alone.

More than 100 polyps were found in the colon.

The colonoscopy performed in 2020 yielded a life‑changing result for the young woman. Doctors diagnosed Beran with colon cancer.

The examination revealed more than 100 polyps in the colon and a mass in the rectum.

When doctors recommended surgery, Beran decided to seek a second opinion with his spouse. After meeting with another doctor, he began the treatment process.

He underwent six courses of chemotherapy.

Beran received six cycles of chemotherapy before the surgery. He then underwent a comprehensive operation in which his entire colon was removed.

After the surgery, Beran had to use a stool bag for about five months, which he described as one of the toughest periods of his life.

"It was very frightening, and there were a lot of things that had to be dealt with."Using those words, Beran explained that the treatment process was quite heavy both physically and psychologically.

Cancer Spread to the Lungs

After the treatment, follow‑ups continued, and in the checks carried out at the beginning of 2021 on Beran, a new development emerged: it was determined that the cancer had spread to his lungs.

Thus a young woman was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Beran, who underwent another operation to remove a cancerous nodule in her lung, subsequently received seven sessions of radiotherapy.

Considered cancer-free but follow-up continues.

After an intensive treatment period, Beran is now considered cancer-free. However, due to her history of stage 4 cancer, regular check-ups continue.

Recently, after undergoing another operation because the scar tissue was causing small bowel obstructions, Beran says she is starting to regain her health.

'You Know Your Own Body'

After her experience, Beran, who gives an important message especially to young people, stresses that atypical symptoms should not be ignored because of age.

Beran, who said he did not question his doctor's assessment at the outset, now says that people should take into account changes in their own bodies.

Beran urged, saying, 'You know your own body. If you feel that something is wrong or off, you must go and have it checked.'

Digestive problems that arise at a young age can require medical evaluation, especially when accompanied by unusual symptoms such as bleeding. Experts also point out that persistent or recurring symptoms should not be ignored.
