They don't carry passports! Only 3 people in the world have this privilege.

While state presidents, kings, queens and even the Pope use passports for overseas travel, only three people in the world are exempt from this requirement. Japanese Emperor Naruhito, Empress Masako and United Kingdom King Charles III do not carry passports on their international trips.

In international travel, a passport is regarded as one of the most fundamental documents for border crossings between countries. From heads of state to prime ministers, from members of royal families to religious leaders, many high‑ranking officials carry an official passport or diplomatic document during overseas visits. However, this rule has only three exceptions worldwide.

Japanese Emperor Naruhito, Empress Masako, and Britain's King Charles III are exempt from the passport‑holding requirement due to the legal nature of their offices.
