'Jurassic Park,' ‘The Piano,’ and ‘Peaky Blinders’ actor Sam Neill, a New Zealander, died at 78.
According to a statement released by his family, Sam Neill died at the age of 78.
The statement did not provide details on the cause of death, but it was reported that the actor had recently overcome cancer.
Neill was diagnosed with stage anjiomyeloablastic T-cell lymphoma in 2022.
The actor announced this year that his treatment had been successfully completed and that he had overcome cancer.
Film career
Born in Omagh, Northern Ireland, in 1947, the actor, whose real name is Nigel John Dermot Neill, moved with his family to New Zealand in his childhood.
Neill gained attention in 1977 with the film ‘Sleeping Dogs’ and went on to star in productions such as ‘My Brilliant Career,’ ‘The Hunt for Red October,’ ‘The Piano,’ and ‘Jurassic Park’ throughout his career.
The actor became globally recognized for his role as Dr. Alan Grant in Steven Spielberg’s ‘Jurassic Park.’
