Singapore's birth incentive: Support exceeding $55,000 per child
Singapore, battling a historically low fertility rate, is increasing its support for families with children. Under the new package, each Singaporean child will receive payments spread over the growth period, totaling up to 70,000 Singapore dollars, and financial aid exceeding $55,000.
Singapore, which is combating one of the world’s lowest fertility rates, is rolling out a comprehensive economic support package to encourage its citizens to have children. Under the new scheme, Singaporean citizens will receive direct financial assistance amounting to up to S$70,000 per child by the time the child reaches age 17.
The country's fertility rate, which fell to 0.87 children per woman in 2025, has prompted the government to reinforce its family policies. The rate was 0.97 the previous year.
Support for Children's Growth Will Spread
New plan announced by Prime Minister Lawrence WongSG Child Support Packageensuring that children can equally benefit from basic supports regardless of birth order.
The direct support provided under the package can reach about 62,000 Singapore dollars. When the 5,000 Singapore dollar MediSave contribution given to newborns and the approximately 2,500 Singapore dollar Edusave support provided during the education period are added, the total public support reaches about 70,000 Singapore dollars.
First Payment 10,000 Dollars
In the new system, payments to families will not be made in a single lump sum. State support will be transferred gradually, spread over the child's growth and education period.
