The U.S. administration’s strict application of visa policies continues. The U.S. Department of State announced that more than 175,000 visas issued to foreign nationals during the Donald Trump administration have been revoked.

In a briefing released by the ministry, it was noted that a significant portion of the revocations were carried out following contact between the visa holders and law‑enforcement authorities due to their criminal activities.

Crime Files Emerge in Visa Revocations

According to the ministry’s statement, incidents leading to visa revocations include assault, driving under the influence, theft, and drug‑related offenses.

In addition, it was reported that reckless or dangerous driving, sexual assault, child abuse, fraud, and money laundering were also cited as grounds for visa revocations.

Officials said the decisions were made within ongoing review and oversight processes.

Visa holders are closely monitored

The U.S. Department of State said it is assessing whether visa holders comply with the conditions for entering the U.S. and staying in the country through ongoing inspections.

The reviews also noted that whether individuals pose any threat to U.S. citizens is taken into account.

The Trump administration will continue to identify and investigate foreign nationals believed to pose a risk to U.S. security or national security.

“The U.S. Visa is a Privilege, Not a Right”

The State Department's statement also included a striking remark about the visa system.

The Ministry said, 'A U.S. visa is a privilege, not a right.' It was emphasized that existing legal authorities will continue to be used to cancel the visas of those who violate visa conditions or abuse this privilege.

The announced figure of more than 175,000 cancellations once again highlighted the scope of oversight in the Trump administration's visa and immigration policies toward foreign nationals.
