U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he had reached an agreement with Denmark on Greenland. Trump said the agreement grants the United States a permanent right of control over its security needs in Greenland and paves the way for establishing a large-scale military presence on the island.

Trump Announces the Agreement

In a post from his social media account, Trump announced that he had reached an agreement with Denmark and Greenland that meets the United States' security needs.

The agreement gives the United States over Greenland's security needs "permanent right of control" said Trump, stating that it gives the United States a permanent right of control, and argued that Washington's security concerns were completely resolved.

"No Cost to the US"

Trump said the agreement would not impose any cost on the US. He stated that under the agreement Washington would have the right to maintain a military presence in Greenland and conduct military operations.

Trump also said that no US adversary could establish a base in Greenland, display a military presence, or make sensitive investments without the US's explicit written approval.

"We Will Start Immediately"
