Court halts Trump's 75-country visa plan! Decision cancelled
In the United States, a federal court struck down the Trump administration's decision to suspend visa processing for immigrants from 75 countries as unlawful. Judge Jeannette Vargas ruled that the administration had exceeded the limits of its legal authority with the implementation.

One of the steps taken by the Donald Trump administration toward its immigration policies in the United States was once again blocked by the judiciary. The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York annulled the State Department's restriction on immigration visa processing for citizens of 75 countries. Federal Judge Jeannette Vargas ruled that the measure exceeded legal authority and clearly conflicted with federal immigration laws.
Court Issues Critical Decision Against Trump Administration
The ruling stated that there was no legal basis for limiting immigrant visas solely on the basis of the applicant's nationality in a blanket manner. Judge Vargas assessed that Secretary of State Marco Rubio had exceeded the limits of his legal authority when implementing the measure.
The court's decision was viewed as a significant judicial intervention in the broad visa restrictions adopted by the Trump administration under its immigration policies.
Citizens of 75 Countries Were Affected
The measure, which took effect in January, covered 75 countries from different continents. The countries affected by the restriction included Brazil, Colombia, and Uruguay, as well as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Albania.
Citizens of many countries from Africa, the Middle East and the Caribbean have also been covered by the regulation.
The Foreign Ministry, in its defense submitted to the court, argued that migrants arriving from those countries could impose an economic burden on U.S. public resources.
Immigration Rights Organizations Filed a Lawsuit
A lawsuit against the visa restriction was filed by immigration‑rights groups such as the Catholic Legal Immigration Network and African Communities Together, as well as by visa applicants affected by the policy and some U.S. citizens.
The plaintiffs argued that the administration’s policy of targeting citizens of the country as a whole exceeded legal limits.
Trump Administration’s Immigration Policies Back in Court
The Donald Trump administration, after taking office, moved toward comprehensive changes in immigration and border policies. The administration, citing national security and the protection of public resources, imposed various restrictions on the entry of people from different countries and on immigration processes into the United States.
Earlier, travel restrictions covering 39 countries and limitations on the diversity visa program had also been on the agenda.
With the latest ruling, the judicial process concerning the Trump administration's immigration policies has become a major headline again, while the federal court's annulment of the visa restriction covering 75 countries has created a new legal hurdle for the administration.
