Trump’s decision changed the maps: the 'America Lake' era has begun
Following President Donald Trump's decision to rename Ontario Lake, Apple also updated its maps. The lake now appears as 'America Lake' on the screens of users in the United States.
The executive order signed by U.S. President Donald Trump also introduced the name changes in map applications. Apple began to display the name of Lake Ontario, located on the border between Canada and the United States, as “America Lake” for users in the United States.
Apple Maps Name Change
After Trump signed the decree to rename Ontario Lake on August 27, Apple responded. The company updated the lake’s name on Apple Maps screens in the U.S. to “America Lake.”
Old Name to Be Used in Canada
Apple’s regulation varies by country. U.S. users see the lake referred to as “America Lake,” while users in Canada will continue to call it “Ontario Lake.”
In the international user maps, the two names appear together.
Lake Ontario Between Two Countries
Lake Ontario, one of North America's five Great Lakes, lies between the U.S. state of New York and the Canadian province of Ontario.
Google had also used a similar approach, renaming the lake to 'America Lake' for users in the United States. Users in Canada, however, continue to see the lake as 'Lake Ontario'.

The TPS decision that drew 170,000 migrants changed at the last minute
