Born in Ankara on 17 July 1935, Alpay Nazikioğlu entered the ranks of recognized names in Turkish pop music during his music career that began in the 1960s.
The artist, who studied at Ankara University Faculty of Law, recorded works in pop, romantic folk, and rock genres.
Alpay, who released his first 45‑rpm record in 1964, reached a wide audience with songs such as 'Eylül’de Gel', 'Fabrika Kızı', 'Kara Tren', and 'Bekledim Yine'.
