Trade Minister Ömer Bolat announced his targets for expanding trade volume in the economic relations between Turkey and the United States. Bolat said that the trade volume between the two countries is aimed to reach 50 billion dollars in 2028, and 100 billion dollars in the long term.
Trade Volume Reaches 28.9 Billion Dollars
The trade volume between Turkey and the United States was recorded at 38.6 billion dollars in 2025. In the first nine months of 2026, trade between the two countries rose to 28.9 billion dollars, an increase of about 17 percent compared to the same period last year.
50 Billion Dollar Target for 2028
Bolat said that the current upward trend is expected to further lift trade volume between Turkey and the United States in the coming period. The minister stated that a 50‑billion‑dollar interim target has been set for 2028, with a final goal of 100 billion dollars.
Investments Also on the Agenda
The aim is that the economic relationship between the two countries does not remain limited to trade in goods alone. According to information provided by Bolat, Turkish companies' investments in the United States have reached $14.9 billion, while direct investments from the United States to Turkey are at about $16.5 billion. The number of U.S.-capital companies operating in Turkey has also exceeded 2,300.
Turkey's Economic Data Announced
Bolat also shared data on Turkey's capacity in terms of global investment and production. In 2025, Turkey's Gross Domestic Product reached $1.6 trillion, and its exports rose to $273.2 billion. It was noted that the number of foreign‑capital companies operating in the country is approaching 89,000.
Foreign Investment Reached $294.7 Billion

In addition, the total investment potential of the 475 greenfield projects announced in 2025 is $21.1 billion, while the direct employment potential of these projects was recorded at 47,251 people.
U.S. Market Important for Turkey
The United States is among Turkey's important export and import markets. According to data from the Ministry of Trade, the U.S. is Turkey's third-largest export market and fourth-largest import market. The aim is to highlight investment, technology partnerships, and high value‑added production sectors in developing economic relations between the two countries.

Increase in Turkey's Exports to the United States
During his meetings in New York, Bolat, who gathered with representatives of Turkish and American business communities, highlighted the importance of increasing bilateral investments and collaborations in addition to trade volume. The goal is to strengthen Turkey's presence in the U.S. market and expand the position of Turkish companies in global markets.
Export Record of 280.3 Billion Dollars
According to other data shared by Bolat, Turkey's goods exports for the last 12 months as of August 2026 reached 280.3 billion dollars, the highest level in the history of the Republic. It was also announced that the economy grew by 2.5% in the first half of 2026.
Target of 100 Billion Dollar Trade
It was stated that work will continue to raise trade between Türkiye and ABD to 100 billion dollars. In addition to the increase in trade volume, the goal is to develop new collaborations in energy, technology, entrepreneurship, high value-added production, and mutual investments.
