Air Force Minister Troy Meink, in a statement at the Air, Space and Cyber Conference, said that the United States is prepared for 'emerging threats'.

However, he did not provide information on the weapon's characteristics, capacity, or when it was deployed.

The Trump administration, however, states that space‑based capabilities and preemptive missiles are key components of the planned 'Golden Dome' defense system against missile and air attacks.

Military competition in space is growing.

The 1967 Space Treaty prohibits the placement of weapons of mass destruction in Earth orbit. Nevertheless, countries such as the United States, Russia, and China continue to develop space‑based military capabilities that are not banned under the agreement.

The U.S. Space Force also notes that kinetic and non‑kinetic weapons can be employed to disrupt, degrade, or destroy adversaries' space capabilities when necessary.

Established in 2019, the Space Forces are responsible for protecting the United States' military assets in space, including communications, surveillance, and navigation.
