Armed Attack at Virginia State University: 5 People Shot
In the armed attack near Virginia State University in the United States, five people were injured, one seriously. Police are searching for multiple suspects related to the incident.

A gun attack occurred days before the start of the new academic term at Virginia State University. Around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, the incident took place outside one of the university's student dormitories, where five people were shot with firearms. After the attack, a temporary security alarm was triggered on campus.

Police Pursuing Multiple Suspects
Campus police and Chesterfield County Police Department teams arriving at the scene identified five people shot with firearms. Officials say the attack was not a single burst of gunfire from a vehicle, but was carried out by multiple suspects.
One Victim in Critical Condition
The five injured in the attack were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. University officials stated that one of the wounded is in critical condition, while the other four sustained injuries that do not pose a life‑threatening risk.
Wounded Individuals' Identities Not Released
Police and university administration did not disclose the identities of the injured persons to the public. Officials also have not yet confirmed how many of the wounded are connected to the university. Police have confirmed at this stage that only one of the injured is a student.
Security Measures Continue on Campus
After the attack, intensive security measures were taken on the university campus. Officials said that a large number of law enforcement officers were on duty on campus and that the investigation is ongoing. No information has yet been released about whether any suspect has been apprehended.
Federal Teams Also in Investigation
In addition to the Chesterfield County Police Department, the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Bureau (ATF) and Hanover County Sheriff's Office teams are also supporting the investigation. Officials said that work related to the attack is continuing.
Virginia State University is known as a historically Black university located in the Ettrick region of the state of Virginia. The university, which has about 5,700 students, was scheduled to begin classes for the new academic year on Monday. The student dormitories had opened a week earlier. A large portion of the students who had just joined the university had completed the orientation program called "New Trojans Experience" before the attack.
