A significant recall decision has arrived for hundreds of thousands of Volkswagen and Audi owners in the United States. German automotive giant Volkswagen is recalling more than 208,000 vehicles due to a problem detected in the steering system that could cause loss of control while driving.

More Than 208,000 Vehicles Affected

According to a statement from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall covers a total of 208,724 vehicles. The issue was found in specific 2018‑2021 model‑year cars.

The recall includes certain 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan, 2018‑2019 Volkswagen Atlas, and 2019‑2021 Audi Q3 models.

Risk of Loss of Control in Steering

The reason for the recall is a critical component in the steering system. According to the statement, a defect in the gasket used during the assembly of the steering box could cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle under certain conditions.

Officials warned that a possible loss of control could increase the risk of an accident.

Part will be replaced free of charge.

Volkswagen announced that the necessary repairs for vehicles affected by the recall will be carried out free of charge. Authorized dealers will replace the steering box mounting bolt on the right side of the vehicles without charging any fee.

Vehicle owners must check whether their vehicles are covered by the recall and, if so, contact authorized service centers.
