In the US, the drug baron in prison gets 30 more years.

The 51‑year‑old Mexican citizen Ismael Guerrero‑Moya, serving a 30‑year sentence at Ware State Prison in Georgia, USA, was sentenced to additional prison time for running a large‑scale methamphetamine network while in custody. Authorities said Guerrero‑Moya continued to run the drug trade via an illegal cell phone found in the prison.

Issued Orders with a Stolen Phone

According to information presented to the court by prosecutors, Guerrero‑Moya organized drug shipments by connecting from his prison cell with outside accomplices. It was stated that Michael Childers, Salvador Bolanos Villalpando, and Jose Jovani Toledo also played roles in the network.

Auto Repair Shop Used as a Warehouse

According to officials, Michael Childers used an auto repair shop to conceal methamphetamine inside vehicles. It was reported that Salvador Bolanos Villalpando and Jose Jovani Toledo operated a laboratory in Ellenwood where the drug was processed. In the investigation, the other three named individuals and another methamphetamine dealer had previously been convicted in connection with the case.

More Than 500 Pounds of Methamphetamine Seized

Under a federal investigation, an operation targeting a drug network was carried out in March 2020. Officials announced that more than 500 pounds of methamphetamine linked to the network were seized during the operation. A 150‑pound portion of the drug was found in a house in Ellenwood.

Allegation of Hundreds of Pounds Shipment

Steven N. Schrank, the special agent from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Investigation Unit responsible for Georgia and Alabama, said that Guerrero‑Moya’s continued operations from prison exposed the threat posed by international drug traffickers. Schrank stated that the network, run through a smuggled phone and external criminal partners, was responsible for putting hundreds of pounds of drugs into circulation.

He Accepted the Charges

Guerrero‑Moya accepted the charges of conspiracy to possess for the purpose of distributing methamphetamine and money laundering on September 10, 2025. It was stated that the defendant had previously been convicted of drug trafficking and weapons offenses, and therefore was serving a 30‑year sentence at Ware State Prison.

30 Years Imprisonment and 10 Years Supervision

In the hearing held on Tuesday, the judge sentenced Guerrero‑Moya to 30 years in prison. Following this sentence, a decision was made to impose 10 years of supervised release. Thus, a new conviction decision was issued for Guerrero‑Moya, who was said to have managed a drug network using a smuggled phone inside the prison.
