New decision concerning those vacationing on Airbnb
Airbnb is limiting hosts' requests for guests to wash dishes, remove sheets, and run the washing machine. The new policy, effective November 20, 2026, aims to simplify the checkout process for guests who pay a cleaning fee.

Airbnb unveiled new rules on 20 Ekim'de.
Accordingly, hosts will not generally be permitted to undertake tasks that cleaning staff can perform for guests.
Along with the new policy, such requests may not be considered appropriate:
Washing dishes and putting them back, making beds, or running the washing machine is taking trash to a distant location from the accommodation.
Hosts will not be able to prohibit the use of amenities such as air conditioning available in the city during the stay.
Which rules will remain in effect?
Airbnb says that guests may be asked to perform reasonable and simple tasks. Leaving used dishes in the sink, gathering towels, sorting trash into designated bins, turning off appliances, and locking the door are among them.
The company also says that rules will be evaluated taking into account the type of accommodation and local conditions, and that exceptions may be possible in some cases.
How will the rules be monitored?
Airbnb will flag non‑compliant requests on the listing‑editing screen and send notifications to hosts via email. If the issue is not resolved, guests viewing the listing may encounter a warning about cleaning requests.
The new regulation will also make house rules more visible before booking. Guests will still be obliged to comply with the current house rules.
The cleaning fee is not being removed. Airbnb's announcement did not disclose any change to these fees; hosts may continue to charge a cleaning fee.
The new policy will take effect on 20 Kasım 2026. Airbnb has begun offering hosts the necessary tools to review their rules on 20 Ekim.
