America's e-Government has opened: America.gov

The U.S. government has launched the America.gov platform to make it easier for citizens to access information and services from federal agencies. The AI‑powered system aims to consolidate information found on the websites of various federal agencies into a single point.

Through the platform, users can ask questions in everyday conversational language instead of typing classic search terms for the topic they seek. The system then directs the user to the relevant official information and service based on the question.

From Social Security to Passport Processing

Through America.gov, information can be obtained about Social Security, Medicare, passport processing, and various federal programs. The goal is also to direct users to the correct federal agency or official source for other matters such as company transactions.

One notable feature of the platform is that it does not require users to create an account. Users can access the system for free and conduct searches.

Scope to Expand in 2027

America.gov is planned to provide basic information-finding and guidance services in its first stage. The system is intended to incorporate more public services directly into its framework in later stages.

According to the plans, from 2027 onward, some form-filling, application, and renewal procedures are also intended to be carried out via the platform.

Thus, instead of having to perform separate transactions on the websites of different federal agencies, citizens will be able to access many public services through a single digital gateway.

America.gov currently resembles a more limited version of Turkey's e-Devlet Kapısı. However, with the expansion of the system's scope, access to federal services in the United States is largely intended to be carried out through a single platform.
