Explosion at Anak Krakatau Volcano! Lava erupted all night.

After a nighttime explosion at Indonesia’s Anak Krakatau volcano, lava eruptions were observed. Officials warned residents and tourists in the area where the alarm level was 3 to stay away from restricted zones.

The explosion occurred at 23:07.

Activity at the volcano on Anak Krakatau Island began at 23:07 local time and continued through the night. After the explosion, the volcano was reported to have erupted lava until 06:00 the next morning.

While closely monitoring volcanic activity in the region, officials urged citizens to remain cautious in light of developments.

Alarm level was raised to 3.

It was noted that the current warning level for Anak Krakatau is 3, meaning 'alarm'.

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) announced that residents in the area should not panic but follow official warnings. Tourists and local residents were also called upon to absolutely refrain from entering the prohibited areas around the volcano.

Officials also warned that those wishing to watch the eruption up close or capture footage might find approaching the volcano dangerous.

The 2018 explosion had caused a major tsunami.

The Anak Krakatau, standing about 157 meters tall, had also come into focus due to past significant volcanic activity.

The tsunami that followed the volcano's December 2018 eruption caused a major disaster in Indonesia, claiming at least 430 lives.

New volcanic activity in the region, prompted by the past disaster, is being closely monitored by officials.
