Critical week for Bitcoin: Two developments could decide the markets' fate

Bitcoin is entering a busy week with the release of U.S. midterm election results and October employment data. From the balance of power in Congress to the Fed's interest‑rate policy, many developments could influence the direction of the crypto market. The balance sheets to be announced by tech giants will also test investors' risk appetite.

The crypto market, while trying to recover from the losses suffered after the Binance attack, also retains its spot in the headlines due to the slump in institutional investor demand. In this process, the U.S. midterm elections on November 3 and the employment report to be released on November 6 will be closely watched.

U.S. Midterm Elections Could Affect the Crypto Market

The first major development of the week will be the U.S. midterm elections held on Tuesday, November 3. Because the election results could alter the distribution of Republican and Democratic representatives in Congress, they are also significant for the future of regulations on digital assets, as well as for economic policy.

Financial regulations, public spending, and the negotiations to be conducted in Congress are among the topics that crypto investors will be following.

However, there is no definitive forecast that the election results will directly cause a rise or fall in Bitcoin prices. The market’s reaction will depend on how closely the outcomes align with investor expectations.

Employment Data Will Shed Light on the Fed’s Interest Rate Policy

The second critical test of the week will be the U.S. October employment report, to be released on Friday, November 6. The data, to be published at 16:30 Turkey time by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, will highlight non‑agricultural employment, unemployment rate, and wage increases.

At the Fed's latest meeting, keeping the policy rate steady between 3.75% and 4% and highlighting that inflation remained high increased the importance of new economic data. The votes of two Fed members in favor of a rate hike also amplified uncertainty about monetary policy.

Employment and wage gains exceeding expectations could support views that the Fed should maintain a tight monetary stance. Such a scenario could strengthen the dollar and bond yields, putting pressure on risk assets like Bitcoin.

Data falling short of expectations could ease pressure on monetary policy. However, weak employment figures could also bring concerns of a slowdown in the U.S. economy.

Other Economic Indicators Will Also Be Tracked

There are other important data points that markets will track before Friday's employment report.

On Tuesday, November 3 at 18:00, the JOLTS open job positions data for September will be released. On Wednesday, November 4 at 16:15, ADP's October private‑sector employment report will be issued, and at 18:00 the ISM services index will be published.

These indicators will provide additional clues about the current state of the U.S. labor market and economic activity.

Technology Companies' Balance Sheets Also on the Agenda

Another headline that could influence Bitcoin's trajectory is the upcoming financial results from the technology sector.

The balance sheets to be released by Apple, Palantir, AMD, and Super Micro Computer are particularly important in terms of AI investments and the companies' growth expectations.

Following recent selloffs in technology stocks, upcoming results could reshape investors' appetite for risk. This, in turn, may indirectly affect demand for the cryptocurrency market.

The statements that Fed officials will make throughout the week will also be monitored in terms of expectations about monetary policy. For Bitcoin investors, the most important agenda item of the week will be the employment and wage data to be released on Friday.
