Sexual Abuse Victim Missing Girl Child Found in Georgia

The girl who had been missing in ABD’s North Carolina since May was found safe in East Point, Georgia. The Fulton County Sheriff's Office announced that the child's location had been determined as part of the investigation and that a suspect connected to the incident had been taken into custody. Because the investigation is ongoing, the suspect's identity and the charges brought against him have not been disclosed.
The investigation was launched on August 17.
Police in Fayetteville, North Carolina, contacted Fulton County investigators on August 17 to request assistance in locating the missing girl. Officials said the child was assessed as a victim of sex‑trafficking.
Could Not Reach Her Mother's Home
According to investigators, the girl was expected to go to her mother's home in Georgia in May. However, the child never reached the address. After she was seen getting into an unidentified vehicle in front of her house in Fayetteville, no further information could be obtained.
Internet Listings Advanced the Investigation
Fulton County teams identified online commercial sex ads related to various locations in the metro Atlanta area during the investigation. The Sheriff's Office announced that the ads contained images of the missing girl. The information obtained led investigators to focus on the possibility that the child could be in Georgia.
Operation Organized in East Point
The Fulton County Sheriff's Office investigators, the Internal Security Investigations teams, and the Fulton County SWAT unit conducted a joint operation. The teams identified the girl's location in East Point and organized the operation. The child was then taken to a secure facility and provided access to care and victim support services.
A Suspect Was Arrested
Officials announced that a suspect was taken into custody during the operation. However, because the investigation is not yet complete, details about the suspect's name, the charges brought against him, and the role he allegedly played in the incident were not disclosed.
Statement from Sheriff Labat
Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat said that after the request for help reached them, the teams moved quickly. Labat said that their priorities were to locate the child victim, ensure his safety, and provide the care and support he needs.
