Footage recorded in Manhattan's Midtown area of New York City has brought a new 'rögar' mystery to the city's attention. After 04:00 on the morning of August 18, three people emerged from a 'rögar' cover on Seventh Avenue. The incident occurred opposite Madison Square Garden and Penn Station.

Three People Caught on Camera

The person who recorded the incident on a cell phone said that at least five people emerged from the 'rögar' cover, but only the last three entered the camera. The footage shows the individuals coming out of the underground in sequence and moving away from the area.

"They Looked Professional"

The person who recorded the footage said they were stunned by the scene. A witness who claimed not to see any items in the people's hands noted that, however, the group's manner of emerging from underground appeared quite professional and gave the impression that they knew what they were doing.

NYPD Launches Investigation

The New York Police Department said it was aware of the footage circulating on social media and was conducting an investigation into the incident. Police said no arrests had been made so far and that the investigation is ongoing.

What Were They Looking for Under the Sewer?

Officials did not provide a definitive explanation for why the individuals entered the sewer system. The fact that similar incidents had previously occurred in different parts of New York led to the investigation being considered together with past cases. In earlier incidents, some people were seen walking underground after entering the city sewer system.

No Damage Found in Infrastructure

In an inspection conducted by the New York Environmental Protection Department, no damage was found in the sewer infrastructure of the area where the incident occurred. The agency warned citizens that entering city sewers is illegal and extremely dangerous, urging them to stay away from such areas.

Serious Risks Underground

According to officials, sewage systems contain serious hazards such as toxic or lethal gases, uneven surfaces, sudden flooding, and confined spaces. Therefore, it was emphasized that unauthorized entry into manholes, channels, drainage systems, and similar infrastructure points should be avoided.

Similar incidents had also occurred earlier.

The latest incident in Manhattan followed similar footage that emerged in New York in recent months. In May, footage showed numerous people entering the city’s sewage system through manholes at various points in Brooklyn, and those incidents were also the subject of police investigations. Whether the Manhattan events are linked to earlier cases remains unknown.
