In Manisa, a tour bus overturned, leaving many dead and injured.

The traffic accident that occurred in the Akhisar district of Manisa caused panic. A tour bus traveling from Istanbul toward Izmir overturned. It was reported that many people died and were injured in the crash.

Accident Occurred at Akhisar Junction

The accident occurred around 11:30 at the Akhisar junction on the Istanbul‑Izmir highway. The tour bus bearing plate 16 AED 124, heading from Istanbul toward Izmir, overturned for an as‑yet‑unidentified reason.

Injured Persons Transported to Hospitals

After the crash, medical teams were dispatched to the scene. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals by ambulance. Details on the number of fatalities and injuries are expected to be clarified.

Statement from the Manisa Governorship

The statement issued by the Manisa Governorship used the following expressions:

"Today, on 11.11, a report was received that a tourist bus and its tow truck, traveling from Bursa toward Izmir, were involved in an accident near the entrance to the Akhisar motorway. Medical and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene, and rescue operations for the affected citizens were launched swiftly. Eleven of our citizens died, and 27 were injured in the crash. The injured were transported to hospitals. We pray for the souls of those who perished and wish a speedy recovery for the injured.",

Statement from Minister Çiftçi

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi on the accident,"According to initial findings, 11 of our citizens died and 27 were injured in the traffic accident that occurred in the Akhisar district of Manisa. Our teams from AFAD, the police, gendarmerie, fire service, and 112 Health were dispatched to the scene promptly and began intervention operations. We are closely monitoring the process together with all relevant institutions. We pray for the souls of those who lost their lives and wish patience and condolences to their grieving families; we wish a swift recovery to the injured. May God protect our country and our dear nation from all kinds of accidents and disasters.",said.

We had 34 passengers on the bus.

Manisa Governor Vahdettin Özkan provided the following information at the scene in his statement;

Unfortunately today we were exposed to a major accident. We are near a point in the Akhisar district. Here, a collision between a truck and a bus resulted in, according to initial assessments, all our units arriving at the scene. In preliminary examinations, we observed that unfortunately 11 of our citizens had passed away. First and foremost, I pray for Allah's mercy for all our deceased citizens. I pray for patience for their relatives. Apart from that, 34 of our travelers are safe. In total, 11 fatalities and 27 injured. Of these 27 injured, 16 are classified as yellow code, 9 as green code, and 1 as red code, currently being transported to our hospitals. Currently, our AFAD, firefighters, health units, gendarmerie, and security units are working to arrive at the scene quickly and bring the situation under control in a coordinated manner. Currently, under the coordination of our Republic's prosecutor, scene investigations are continuing. I say get well soon again. I pray for mercy for the deceased again. I wish quick recoveries to the injured. We are experiencing again how vital strict adherence to traffic rules is in such a painful manner. I urge everyone to make strict adherence to these rules a reflex.
