In an apartment on Beach 54th Street between Beach Channel Drive and Almeda Avenue, a police officer fired his weapon during intervention in the apartment.

According to police sources, a 52‑year‑old man began a quarrel when asked to leave the house with the 57‑year‑old woman and 53‑year‑old man he was temporarily living with. After the argument, the suspect allegedly attacked the two people in the apartment with a cutting instrument and locked himself inside the apartment.
Two People Injured, Police Fired Weapon
According to information provided by officials, the 57‑year‑old woman was injured on her hands and feet, while the 53‑year‑old man was injured on his head and arms. When New York Police Department (NYPD) teams arrived at the scene and entered the apartment, one officer fired his weapon. Police said no one was hit by the gunfire.
Three People Taken to Hospital
The two injured people were taken to hospital with the 52‑year‑old suspect. According to information relayed by NBC New York, the health of all three individuals was assessed as stable. Police announced that the suspect has been taken into custody.
The investigation is being conducted by the NYPD.
