Rainy weather struck again in New York and surrounding areas in the United States on the last day of the weekend. After the dry morning hours, rain fell in the region in the Sunday afternoon, while temperatures hovered in the mid‑60s.

While the likelihood of rain is higher in the south and east of New York City, rain is expected to remain much more limited in the northern parts of the city.

Rainfall Amount Will Remain Low

In areas receiving rain, the total amount is expected to be a quarter of an inch or less. Therefore, the rainfall is projected to remain generally light.

Cold Weather Coming Next Week

From the beginning of the week, a more pronounced drop in temperature is expected in the region. According to CBS New York's forecast, the coldest weather of the season so far will prevail next week.

It is expected that temperatures will struggle to reach 60 degrees on Tuesday, while nighttime temperatures will drop to as low as the 40s in many areas, including New York City.

Frost Risk in the Northern Regions

In particular, there is a risk of frost in New York's northern regions, which are normally colder. With temperatures dropping at night, a sharper winter feel is expected in these areas.

Weather Changing in New York and New Jersey

Following the rain, the rapid drop in temperatures signals a noticeable change in weather conditions across New York and its surroundings. In particular, those heading out in the mornings and evenings should be prepared for lower temperatures.
