Trump made the first statement.
President Donald Trump, in a post from his social media account following the election results, stated that his name was not on the ballot, saying, "My name was not on the ballot; if it had been, we would have won by a landslide."
Trump had previously said that if the Republicans lost the majority in Congress, they could use their veto power more often. The Senate moving into Democratic control could affect the president's relations with Congress and the legislative agenda in the remaining two years of his term.
