Professor Dr. Gülçin Erseven, who served the medical world in Turkey for nearly 50 years, died in Texas from pancreatic cancer. An aid campaign has been launched in the United States to bring his remains back to Turkey.

Prof. Dr. Gülçin Erseven, who had served in the medical field in Turkey for many years, lost her life in the U.S. state of Texas. Having devoted about 50 years to patients and the scientific world, Erseven fell ill in Texas while visiting her son and was taken to a hospital. The professor’s death from pancreatic cancer shocked her family, colleagues, and admirers.
Managed the Pathology Unit for 25 Years in Çapa
Spending a significant portion of his professional life at Istanbul University’s Faculty of Medicine and Oncology Institute, Erseven served as manager of the Oncology Institute’s Pathology Unit for about 25 years. The experienced physician also held the position of Director of the Istanbul University Oncology Institute in 1993‑1994.

Made Significant Contributions to Cancer Research
Working in the fields of cancer diagnosis and tumor pathology, Prof. Dr. Erseven contributed to the diagnostic and treatment processes of many patients throughout his career. Engaged in scientific research and publishing articles in international medical journals, Erseven also supported the development of young scientists.
