Big Sale at Walmart: Prices of Thousands of Products Drop
Discount wind has started at Walmart: The retail giant lowered prices on more than 11,000 items in its U.S. stores.

Walmart customers have begun to encounter lower prices on thousands of products. The company announced that it will use part of the roughly $3 billion rebate received due to tariffs applied under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to keep prices low.
Noting that consumers are turning to affordable products amid rising living costs, Walmart said it carried out more than 11,000 price cuts in U.S. stores in the last quarter. The retail giant explained that customers are drawn to it because of the value it offers, and that it prioritizes price investments.
Tariff rebates not only provided discounts to shoppers but also made a strong contribution to Walmart's financial results. The company's adjusted operating profit rose about 17 percent on a constant‑currency basis. The net contribution of the rebates to this growth was 750 basis points.

Even after excluding the effect of tariff rebates, Walmart noted that the growth in core operating profit reached the upper end of the previously stated 7 percent to 10 percent second‑quarter expectation.
Online sales did not slow down.
Walmart's total revenue rose 5.9 percent in the period. The company's comparable store sales in the United States also grew 2.6 percent excluding fuel.
Digital channels, on the other hand, delivered faster performance. Global e‑commerce sales rose 23%, while Walmart grew 24% in the United States and Sam’s Club grew 26% in the United States.
Delivery orders fulfilled from stores rose 40%. Walmart’s net sales on its third‑party‑seller‑open online marketplace also increased by more than 50%.
Company management raised its full‑year sales and operating‑profit growth outlook, citing strong sales, improving operating results, pricing, and ongoing investments in technology.

Walmart generated $19.7 billion in operating cash flow and $5.5 billion in free cash flow during the period.
An approximate $3 billion tariff rebate will provide a new source for Walmart’s low‑price policy while also supporting the company’s expansion of e‑commerce, delivery, and online‑marketplace activities.
