In the United States, 69 vehicles crashed into each other.
In South Carolina, a chain‑reaction crash involving 69 vehicles occurred on the bridge over Lake Marion on the I‑95 highway. At least two people were seriously injured, and one person was airlifted to the hospital by helicopter.

An accident occurred on the bridge linking the Clarendon and Orangeburg areas, where dense fog caused visibility to drop dramatically.
15 trucks and 54 cars collided in the accident. While some vehicles were trapped under the trucks, teams rescued the four vehicles that were stuck.

The southbound lanes of I-95 were closed.
Officials said at least two people were seriously injured and many others were lightly wounded. While a wounded person was being transported to the hospital by helicopter, no deaths were reported.

Because of the crash, the southbound lanes of I-95 were closed to traffic. Drivers were directed to alternate routes via exit 102, while crews' vehicle removal work continued for a long time.

One of the drivers involved in the crash described what happened afterward as "the worst thing I have ever seen in my life."
