Seven pit bulls being transported in the cargo area of a freight truck fell onto the road after the rear hatch opened when the vehicle passed over a bump on Claiborne Woods Road. The dogs scattered into the surroundings within a short time.

In the security camera footage obtained during the investigation of the incident, the rear hatch opened as the truck passed over a bump, and seven dogs were hurled onto the road. After the released animals, an attack began in the neighborhood.

4 People Injured

At least four people were injured in the attack. According to investigation records, the dogs first turned toward Haley Wright and her partner Aaron Westphar, and then Angela Johnson was also attacked. The local news outlet WCCB also reported that four people were injured in the incident.

A Woman Received Over 100 Bites

Haley Wright was the most seriously injured victim of the attack. Wright, who had more than 100 bites on various parts of her body, was taken to the hospital. After undergoing two operations, the woman was discharged following a ten‑day treatment. In a statement to the local press, Wright said she feared for her life during the assault.

Owners Arrested After the Attack

In the investigation conducted after the incident, authorities took action against 44‑year‑old Rychelle Morrow and 75‑year‑old Rodney Morrow, who were identified as the dogs' owners. The two were arrested on September 16 and released on bail on September 18.

Facing Multiple Charges

The Morrow couple faces charges of abandoning their animals, mistreating them, failing to vaccinate, not maintaining a rabies tag, causing injuries through a dangerous dog attack, and transporting animals in unsafe conditions.

First Footage of the Incident Emerged

Immediately after the incident, local news reported that police and animal control teams had searched for the owners of seven dogs. In WCCB's August 27 report, it was stated that the attack took place in the Claiborne Woods area in the northwest of Charlotte and that the dogs attacked a woman in the neighborhood en masse.
