Blood‑curdling murder in the US: NYT executive killed
NYT executive Jonathan McKinsey was shot dead in California. Under suspicion of murder, McKinsey's 77‑year‑old father‑in‑law and mother‑in‑law were detained.
The lifeless body of 40‑year‑old Jonathan McKinsey, an executive at The New York Times, was found in the parking lot of a sports facility in Dublin, about 56 kilometres west of San Francisco, with numerous gunshot wounds.
Eyewitnesses said they heard gunshots one after another, then saw McKinsey on the ground. One witness noted that there was bleeding from the head and chest.
Police arrested Shouyong Zhang and Shili Chen after the incident. The 77‑year‑old couple faces a range of charges, including first‑degree murder.
The motive for the murder is under investigation.
Police confirmed that McKinsey died at the scene, but have yet to explain the motive for the killing.
Zhang and Chen are being held at Santa Rita Prison. The couple also faces charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, use of a firearm, and endangering a child.
The suspects are expected to be brought to court on Wednesday. McKinsey's death was also confirmed by The New York Times.
