Following the ferry accident that occurred in the waters off Girne in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC), the United States Diplomatic Mission in Turkey sent condolences to the families of the deceased.
In a statement issued from the mission's social media account, condolences were conveyed to the relatives of those who lost their lives in the accident. The statement also offered support to those whose whereabouts remain unknown and to everyone affected by the incident.

Ferry Sinks in the Waters off Girne
In the catastrophic accident that occurred off Girne on 30 Ağustos, a passenger ship bound for Taşucu Limanı in Mersin went down in a sudden sinking. The vessel carried 259 passengers and 8 crew members, a total of 267 people. At least eight people lost their lives in the incident, and search‑and‑rescue operations are ongoing.
