In New York, a car hit nurse Jiayi Zheng after she finished her night shift. US police asked citizens for help to catch the fleeing driver.

In Brooklyn's Sunset Park area, 28‑year‑old nurse Jiayi Zheng lost her life when a car hit her while she was heading home after her night shift. The accident occurred before 07:40 a.m. at the intersection of 55th Street and Third Avenue. NYPD said a 2014 model Cadillac struck Zheng and the driver fled without stopping.
Lost Life in Hospital
The severely injured Zheng was transported to NYU Langone Hospital‑Brooklyn where she worked. However, the young nurse could not be saved despite the doctors' intervention.

Another Fatality Occurred Earlier on the Same Road
According to Transportation Alternatives, 11 pedestrians and cyclists have lost their lives on the two‑mile stretch of Third Avenue since 2014. The organization calls for the implementation of the road‑safety project proposed in 2023.
Police Search for Fleeing Driver
NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad teams are continuing the investigation. Officials have asked citizens to share information to catch the driver.
