USA Congratulates Turkey on Artemis Agreements

The U.S. State Department published a congratulatory message to Ankara following Turkey's inclusion in the Artemis Accords. The ministry underscored Turkey's commitment to the exploration and use of space for peaceful purposes.

The signing took place on August 31 in Washington.

Turkey's participation in the agreement smiled as the minister signed the agreement with U.S. officials in Washington on August 31. The U.S. State Department said Turkey was the 71st country to have signed the agreement.

U.S. Highlights NATO

In a statement by the U.S. State Department, attention was drawn to Turkey's status as a NATO ally. Washington said it has maintained long‑standing close coordination with Ankara in defense cooperation, regional security and commercial partnerships.

The Artemis Agreements were established in 2020.

In the U.S. statement, it was recalled that the Artemis Agreements were created in 2020, during Donald Trump's first presidential term. The agreements' primary purpose was described as laying out principles aimed at responsible space exploration.

Turkey Takes a New Step in Space Activities

With Turkey's participation, Ankara joined the ranks of countries that have adopted the principles of the Artemis Agreements, which support sustainable civil space activities. The U.S. administration said that Turkey's entry into the agreement demonstrates its commitment to the peaceful exploration and use of space.
