U.S. chipmaker NVIDIA's CEO: Kazakhstan Could Be a Global Artificial Intelligence Center
U.S.-based chipmaker NVIDIA's founder and CEO Jensen Huang said that Kazakhstan could transform into a global artificial intelligence hub with its energy resources and technology investments. A potential $250 billion investment for a data center project in the country is on the agenda.

Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of U.S.-based chipmaker NVIDIA, said that Kazakhstan could become a global physical artificial‑intelligence hub thanks to its energy infrastructure and skilled workforce. Visiting the capital Astana for the first time on October 23, Huang assessed the country's AI ambitions and technology investments.

Kazakhstan's Data Center Project Targets $1 Trillion in Economic Activity
One of the most striking projects Huang highlighted was the Data Center Valley complex being developed in the Ekibastuz region. He said that if the project reaches a long‑term capacity of 5 gigawatts, it could attract roughly $250 billion in investment and generate $1 trillion in economic activity. Those figures refer to projections for the project's intended scale, not to investments already made.
"You Can Convert Energy into AI Capacity"
Huang said that, in addition to energy sources, data and high computing power are also critical for developing and running AI systems. The NVIDIA executive, who noted that Kazakhstan could use its natural resources in technology production, said the country could serve global markets by converting its energy into AI infrastructure rather than merely exporting it.
Tokayev Awarded NVIDIA CEO a State Badge
Kazakhstan President Kasım Cömert Tokayev met with Huang at the Akorda Presidential Palace in Astana. In the meeting, the development of cooperation between NVIDIA and Kazakhstan and the expansion of the country's artificial‑intelligence ecosystem were discussed. Tokayev emphasized that AI and digitalization are among the nation's national priorities.
After the meeting, Huang was awarded the First‑Class Dostık (Dostluk) Medal for his contributions to the development of artificial intelligence in Kazakhstan.
Why is Physical Artificial Intelligence Important?
Physical AI refers to the application of digital models to robots, autonomous vehicles, and industrial systems that can interact with the physical world. The Kazakhstan government aims to create an international hub in this field by bringing together its energy resources, data‑center investments, and engineering talent.
During Huang's visit, the country's technology ventures, AI infrastructure, and autonomous system projects were also showcased. The collaborations developed with NVIDIA aim to expand Kazakhstan's role in the global technology ecosystem.
