Surprising confession from a U.S. billionaire investor! He said he hasn't drunk water for 48 years.
The claim that billionaire investor Warren Buffett hasn't drunk water for 48 years made headlines. Bill Ackman's reported remarks brought Buffett's claim that he drinks five cans of soda a day back into the spotlight.

A striking claim about Warren Buffett's water consumption, one of the world's richest investors, has surfaced. Bill Ackman, founder and CEO of Pershing Square, reported on a podcast that Buffett told him he had not drunk water for 48 years. The famous investor's love of cola and his billion‑dollar investment in Coca‑Cola have also resurfaced.
Surprising Answer to the Question at Dinner
Bill Ackman recounted an intriguing dialogue he had while hosting Warren Buffett at his home, on the Equity Mates Investing podcast that aired on October 28.
Ackman, noting that he had already procured the drink because he knew Buffett liked cherry cola (Cherry Coke), said he asked the famous investor at dinner whether he wanted water or sparkling water.
According to Ackman, Buffett turned down the offer, replying, "Bill, I haven't drunk water in 48 years." However, it is noted that this statement is based on a past dialogue and may not fully reflect Buffett's current dietary habits.
"One Quarter of My Body Is Coca‑Cola"
Warren Buffett's love of cola has been known for many years. The famous investor revealed in a 2015 interview that he drinks at least five bottles of Coca-Cola a day.
Buffett said that this drink supplies about a quarter of his daily calorie intake, and he humorously described his eating habit with the words, "One quarter of my body is made of Coca-Cola."
Buffett also stated that he stopped drinking Pepsi in 1986 and began drinking Cherry Coke.
Cola Obsession Turns Into a Billion-Dollar Investment
Buffett's affection for Coca-Cola went beyond personal consumption. The Berkshire Hathaway led by the famed investor invested about $1.3 billion in Coca-Cola shares in the 1990s.
The company's stake in Coca-Cola hovered around 9 percent, and the market value of that investment reached roughly $28 billion by the end of 2025.
Thus, Buffett's long-standing cola obsession has also turned into one of the world's most eye-catching long-term investments.
