Turkish pilot Egemen Özhan shared his shopping experience at an Amazon store in the USA that has no staff and no cashier. While cameras on the ceiling track customers' product movements, the cost of purchased items is automatically deducted from the account, and the money for items left on the shelf is refunded.
In the United States, cashier‑less and cash register‑free supermarkets are taking the shopping experience to a new dimension. Turkish pilot Egemen Özhan explained how the system works by touring one of Amazon's employee‑free stores in a video he shared on his social media account. Özhan showed that in the store where customers enter via an app, products are tracked through cameras and payment is processed automatically.
Entering the Store via the App
In his video, Özhan said he had gone to one of the stores in the United States and that there were no staff inside.
Explaining that the Amazon app is used to enter the store, Özhan showed that entry was granted by scanning the app at the gate. Inside, he noted that there was no traditional cash register or cashier to complete the purchase.
Cameras Track the Shopping
Demonstrating how the system works by taking a product, Özhan drew attention to the many cameras mounted on the store's ceiling.
At the moment he took a product from the shelf, Özhan said the system added the product to his account, and he gave an example that the cost of the yogurt he took was automatically charged from the payment method linked to his Amazon account.
Özhan,"When I removed this yogurt from here, the cameras understood that it was mine"He said that the system tracks product movements.
If you return the product, the fee is refunded.
The video showed that the system tracks not only the act of taking the product but also the act of abandoning it.
Özhan said that if he puts the product back on the shelf, the product price is refunded to his account. Thus the customer does not need to go to a cashier to scan the items or make a payment.
Checkout Waiting Period Is Ending
Evaluating the market experience, Özhan said that at the end of the shopping there was no need to queue at any cashier and the payment process was completed automatically.
