The hotel in 'Evde Tek Başına 2' is closing in 2027.
The iconic Plaza Hotel in New York, etched into memory by the film 'Evde Tek Başına 2', will close in January 2027 due to restoration work on its historic exterior. After the planned work, which is expected to take at least four years, the hotel’s reopening date has not yet been announced.

The Plaza Hotel, opened in 1907 and located on Fifth Avenue south of Central Park, will temporarily cease operations while its historically and architecturally protected exterior is renovated.
The hotel's operator, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, announced that the restoration of the building's exterior will be carried out in accordance with preservation requirements.
While details on the cost and scope of the work are not being released, the hotel’s closure is expected to also suspend operations at the Palm Court restaurant and event spaces.
How the 181 residents of the building will be affected by the renovation has not yet been disclosed.

It became worldwide known with Evde Tek Başına 2.
The Plaza Hotel gained worldwide recognition for its scenes in the 1992 film Evde Tek Başına 2 (Home Alone 2).
It lodged in public memory as the hotel where the character Kevin McCallister stayed during his New York visit in the film.

One of its former owners was Donald Trump.
The historic hotel has hosted famous names such as F. Scott Fitzgerald, Truman Capote and the Beatles over the years.
Among its former owners was the Plaza Hotel in New York, which counts former U.S. President Donald Trump among its owners and is a symbolic landmark of the city.

According to the union representing the hotel’s staff, the 378 union members at the Plaza will have the right to return to work at the same wage when the hotel reopens.

Because the restoration will take at least four years, a reopening before 2031 is not expected.
