The 18‑year‑old Kabataş Erkek Lisesi student Ahmet Cemal Müftüoğlugil, who is undergoing leukemia treatment, has achieved a major success by receiving a full scholarship admission from Harvard University. While a suitable stem‑cell donor was being sought to sustain the young student's treatment, an attention‑grabbing appeal came from LÖSEV.

Received a full scholarship admission from Harvard.

Kabataş Erkek Lisesi 12th‑grade student Ahmet Cemal Müftüoğlugil was diagnosed with leukemia last February. The young man whose treatment is ongoing received a full scholarship admission from Harvard University as a result of his university‑application.

Müftüoğlugil is counting the days until he regains his health and begins his studies at Harvard. It was noted that the university has granted him a one‑year period to complete his treatment.

Two Suitable Volunteer Donors Found

In screenings conducted in Turkey for the young student, two suitable volunteer donors with matching tissue groups were identified. However, according to LÖSEV's statement, both volunteers later declined to donate stem cells.

LÖSEV founder and board chair Dr. Üstün Ezer said the transplant process had become dangerous because of this, urging that suitable donors be reached.

\"I Will Find and Convince the Mysterious Donor\"

Ezer said that the young student's life depended on finding suitable stem cells, adding that they would fight to reach donors.

\"The life of a leukemia patient depends on a mysterious donor; whether they try to bribe me or throw me in jail, I will find and convince that mysterious donor.\"

Ezer reiterated his call for volunteers, stating that stem‑cell donation does not pose a serious health risk to donors.

Call to Volunteers from LÖSEV

Ezer said that if suitable stem cells were donated, an important step could be taken in the treatment of Müftüoğlugil.

“Come, answer my call and let us all find these mysterious donors together. Convince and let everyone say 'There are good, beautiful things in this country too'.”

LÖSEV, while asking volunteers with tissue compatibility to contact themselves, emphasized the importance of stem cell donation for the young student's treatment to continue.
