Allegation of a 'Swinger Party' in Mannheim city hall: Sanctions against council member on the agenda

In the city of Mannheim, Germany, City Council member Julien Ferrat's claim that a "political swinger party" was held in a hall of the city hall sparked controversy. The municipal administration, regarding the alleged event attended by nine people, signaled a sanction by stating that the hall might have been used for purposes other than its intended use.

It was alleged that the event took place in the City Hall.

"Die Mannheimer" voter group representative Julien Ferrat said the event announced weeks earlier took place on the evening of August 28.

According to Ferrat, the meeting initially planned as a local politics gathering later turned into a "political swinger party." It was stated that the event was held in hall number 58a of the city hall.

It was alleged that a total of nine people attended.

Ferrat announced that the event included a total of nine people, comprising seven men and two women.

According to information relayed by the German broadcaster SWR, Ferrat was seen that night in the city hall with his companions. However, it was noted that the majority of the details regarding the event's content were based on Ferrat's own statements.

Draws Attention to Municipal Usage Rules

The Mannheim City Council announced that it opposed the use of the city hall for that purpose following Ferrat's announcement of the event plan.

The city administration stated that it had formally notified Ferrat that the rooms allocated to him could not be used for nude events, swinger parties, or similar activities.

It was stated that Ferrat might have used his room for a purpose other than that assigned to him.

A Member of Parliament Could Face Sanctions

The city administration said that the incident could be regarded as a 'serious breach' of the municipal council members' obligations towards the institution.

It was reported that the Municipal Council would decide whether a fine or other sanction would be imposed on Ferrat.

Ferrat's Defense of 'Political Protest'

Ferrat argued that the event was not a private entertainment but a protest with a political purpose.

Ferrat, who called for a special area for nudists and swingers in Mannheim, claimed that such a project could attract tourists to the city and provide economic benefits to the municipality.

Ferrat, who had previously argued that the centrally located city hall made it suitable for such an event, had said he could pursue legal action if the plan were blocked.

Mannheim Municipality, however, stresses that municipal venues must be assessed in line with the established usage rules.
