Ebola alarm in the Democratic Republic of the Congo: Death toll exceeds 4,000.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Ebola outbreak declared on May 15 is worsening. Confirmed cases have risen to 8,300, while deaths have climbed to 4,018.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), deaths from the Ebola outbreak continue to rise. The latest data from the Ministry of Health on the outbreak declared on May 15 has highlighted the seriousness of the situation in the country.

Death toll rises to 4,018.

According to data released by the Ministry of Health, confirmed cases in the outbreak reached 8,300, while the number of deaths climbed to 4,018.

In the outbreak affecting seven provinces of the country, 2,162 people have been reported as recovered so far. Updated figures show the mortality rate in the outbreak at 48.4%.

Ebola Virus First Appeared in 1976.

The Ebola virus, which causes a type of viral hemorrhagic fever, was first identified in simultaneous outbreaks in Nzara, Sudan, and Yambuku, DRC, in 1976.

The disease was named after the Ebola River, which runs near the area where the outbreak started in KDC.

More than 11,000 people died in the outbreak in West Africa.

The Ebola virus also began to spread in West Africa in December 2013. During the 2014-2017 epidemic in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, the virus infected roughly 30,000 people and killed more than 11,000.

After 246 suspected cases and 65 deaths were recorded in Ituri province, located in the eastern part of KDC, an Ebola outbreak was declared in the country on May 15.
